Alocasia Regal Shields is a bold, large-leafed tropical that commands attention in any room. Its deep, dark green leaves are enormous, shield-shaped, and held upright on strong stems, with a velvety texture and dramatic dark veining that gives the plant an almost regal presence. As a hybrid it is more adaptable and forgiving than many pure Alocasia species while retaining all the visual drama.
Good for beginners? It requires more attention than beginner plants — Alocasias prefer consistent humidity and moisture. But compared to more finicky Alocasia varieties, Regal Shields is relatively tolerant and a good choice for plant enthusiasts ready to try their first large tropical.
Safe for cats and dogs? Alocasia is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
Light needs: Bright indirect light encourages the largest, most dramatic leaves. It tolerates medium light but growth slows. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the dark foliage.
Care at a glance: Keep soil consistently moist but never soggy. Well-draining soil is essential. High humidity keeps leaves healthy and prevents browning edges — mist regularly or place near a humidifier. Feed monthly in spring and summer.

Care Instructions
Place your Alocasia 'Regal Shields' in a spot with bright, indirect sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can cause the leaves to scorch.
Water regularly, but be sure to allow the top 1-2 inches of the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can cause root rot.
Increase humidity if possible by misting the leaves or placing a humidifier nearby.
Feed your Alocasia 'Regal Shields' every couple of weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season.
