Calathea 'Dottie'

Calathea Dottie is one of the most dramatically beautiful plants in the Calathea family. Its broad, glossy leaves are so deep green they appear almost black, traced with a vivid, jewel-like pink pattern that outlines the leaf shape and radiates inward from the edges. The pink markings glow against the dark background in a way that looks almost illuminated. Like all Calatheas it folds its leaves upward each evening and opens them again each morning.

Good for beginners? It requires more attention than beginner plants. Calathea Dottie prefers consistent humidity, filtered water, and indirect light to look its best. It rewards growers who create the right environment.

Light needs: Medium to bright indirect light keeps the pink markings most vivid. In lower light the dark background deepens but the pink pattern becomes less defined.
