Dracaena Tornado is one of the most architectural and eye-catching Dracaena varieties available. Its dark green leaves are edged in a bright chartreuse-yellow and grow in a natural spiral formation from a slender upright stem, creating a swirling, tornado-like silhouette that earns the name instantly. It is a slow-growing, long-lived plant that brings structure and tropical character to any corner of a room.
Good for beginners? Yes. Dracaena is one of the most adaptable and forgiving houseplants you can own. It tolerates low light, inconsistent watering, and most home conditions without drama.
Safe for cats and dogs? Dracaena is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs, or explore our pet-safe plant collection.
Light needs: Medium to bright indirect light keeps the yellow variegation most vivid and the spiral growth most defined. It tolerates lower light but the chartreuse edging may fade. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the leaf tips.
Care at a glance: Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Dracaenas are sensitive to fluoride in tap water — brown tips can be a sign of this. Use filtered water where possible. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Avoid cold drafts.

Light: The Dracaena ‘Tornado’ prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can burn and damage the leaves.
Water: Allow the top half of the soil to dry out before watering. Water thoroughly and then let the water drain out of the bottom of the pot. Do not allow the plant to stand in water, as this can cause root rot.
Fertilizer: Fertilize every two to three weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).
