Fittonia Red, commonly known as the Nerve Plant, is one of the most intricately patterned small plants in the houseplant world. Its deep green, oval leaves are traced with a dense network of vivid red veins that run across every surface like fine brushwork — giving the plant an almost stained-glass quality up close. It stays very compact, loves humidity, and is one of the best plants for terrariums, bathroom shelves, and any humid microenvironment.

Good for beginners? Yes, with one caveat: it needs consistent moisture and humidity. It wilts dramatically when thirsty — almost alarmingly so — but recovers completely and quickly after watering, making it actually a helpful communicator for new plant parents.
