Hoya 'Australis'

Hoya Australis is one of the most naturally beautiful Hoyas available. Its long, trailing vines carry thick, waxy, deep green oval leaves with a glossy surface that catches light beautifully. It is one of the fastest-growing Hoyas, producing fragrant clusters of white star-shaped flowers with a honeyed sweetness that fills a room when in bloom. In its native habitat it is known for attracting butterflies and its flowers are genuinely spectacular, one of the most rewarding blooms in the Hoya family.

Good for beginners? Yes. Hoya Australis is more vigorous and forgiving than many Hoyas. It adapts well to average home conditions, grows readily, and is an excellent entry point into the world of flowering Hoyas.

Safe for cats and dogs? Hoya is considered non-toxic to pets.

Light needs: Bright indirect light produces the fastest growth and the most prolific flowering. It tolerates medium light but blooming reduces significantly. An east or west-facing window is ideal.

Care at a glance: Allow soil to dry between waterings. Never let it sit in water. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Never remove old flower spurs as they bloom again from the same point. Provide a hanging basket or trellis for best display.
