Hoya 'Black Margin'

Hoya Black Margin, also known as Hoya Sunrise, is one of the most stunning and color-reactive Hoyas available. Its teardrop-shaped leaves are a deep, glossy green with vivid red veining that intensifies dramatically in bright light, giving the leaves a warm, almost sunset-like glow. The more light it receives, the more vivid the red becomes. It grows on trailing vines that look beautiful in a hanging basket and produces fragrant waxy flower clusters when it matures.

Good for beginners? Yes. Like most Hoyas it is forgiving, drought-tolerant, and adaptable. The key is giving it enough bright indirect light to bring out the red coloring that makes it so special.

Safe for cats and dogs? Hoya is considered non-toxic to pets.

Light needs: Bright indirect light is essential for the most vivid red vein coloring. In lower light the leaves remain green and the red tones do not develop. An east or west-facing window produces the best results.

Care at a glance: Allow soil to dry between waterings. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Never remove old flower spurs as they bloom again from the same point. Hanging baskets show off the trailing vines beautifully.
