Monstera Dubia, known as the Shingle Plant, is one of the most fascinating and unusual Monsteras in existence. Its small, heart-shaped leaves grow flat against whatever surface it climbs, pressed so tightly that they overlap like roof shingles, creating a completely unique growth habit unlike any other houseplant. Each leaf is patterned with both light and dark green in an irregular, marbled pattern. As the plant matures and climbs higher, the leaves grow larger and begin developing the fenestrations typical of the Monstera genus.
Good for beginners? It requires more care than beginner plants. Monstera Dubia needs something to climb against, consistent moisture, and bright indirect light. It is best suited to collectors who want something genuinely unusual.
Safe for cats and dogs? Monstera is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
Light needs: Bright indirect light produces the best growth and the most dramatic shingle effect. Avoid direct sun and very low light.
Care at a glance: Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Provide a flat surface, moss board, or bark slab to climb against. Feed monthly in spring and summer. High humidity encourages the most impressive growth.

Light: Place in bright, indirect sunlight. It will thrive in a spot that gets some morning sun and bright, indirect light the rest of the day.
Water: Water every 7-10 days, ensuring the soil is moist but not soggy. Allow the soil to dry out a bit between waterings.
Humidity: Monsteras like humid environments, so mist the leaves occasionally or use a humidity tray.
Fertilizer: Feed every 2-3 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season, spring through summer.
